A NUMBER of businesses have been taken down by Gold Cost police after a cold call investment fraud investigation.

Police say a 29-year-old Paradise Point man ran several businesses cold calling victims to falsely invest in the sharemarket, binary trading, sports betting, property share investment and EBay businesses.

Detective Inspector Mark Thompson from Gold Coast CIB said that the businesses appeared legitimate with sophisticated websites, brochures, contracts and social media sites.

"These types of cold calling investment schemes have a tremendous impact on the individual, their families and the community."

The man has been charged with two counts of fraud and is set to appear in Southport Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
