Roma's Hannah Gunthorpe lops her locks for charity

YOU won't be able to tell, but Hannah Gunthorpe's hair is worth $5000.

The kind-hearted 10-year-old has decided to donate the hair she has spent three years growing for a wig to be made for someone with Alopecia areata.

Hannah has also raised more than $2000 to go towards a human-hair wig, which normally costs around $5000.

Hannah lopped off 35cm of her hair to donate but she said it was a small cross to bear considering the good it would do.

She said the condition, which is an autoimmune disease that causes partial or full baldness, was very personal to her.

"My aunty has it and I knew that were children out there who were dealing with it," she said.

Her mother Gisela said she was proud of her for taking the first steps on a life dedicated to others.

As for Hannah, the only regret she has is when she decided to have the cut.

"The downside is I cut it off in winter and it's cold!"

TO DONATE to the cause, search "Hannah's Frizzy Locks of Love" on Facebook.
