Teacher and a former CEO join Gympie Regional Council

A GYMPIE High school teacher and the former CEO of Kilkivan Shire Council will take their places at Gympie Regional Council after being voted in yesterday by their new colleagues.

The council called for nominations earlier this year for two people to take the seats vacated by Mick Curran, elected mayor in the recent by-election, and Tony Perrett, elected Gympie MP in the recent state election.

Bob Leitch, a born and bred Gympie son with a strong family and sporting history in the town, and Ray Currie, who was CEO at Kilkivan for many years before the council was amalgamated with Gympie to become Cooloola Shire Council in 2008, were selected from a shortlist of candidates yesterday morning.
