Man charged with 37 child porn offences pleads guilty

A BANGALOW man charged with 37 child pornography-related offences will be sentenced in the Lismore District Court after pleading guilty to some charges.

Adam Walter Meads appeared via video-link at Lismore Local Court where he was represented by his solicitor Ian McKay.

When he was arrested last August, police allege Meads was found in possession of a mobile phone containing 370 videos and 2200 images, which the court heard "have to be categorised".

He was charged with 24 offences including using a carriage service to groom persons under 16 and using a carriage service to solicit child pornography.

Most of Mead's 37 charges related to alleged child sex offences against 11 victims.

This week the court heard the prosecution had more than 130 pages of new material about Meads.

When Mr McKay entered guilty pleas on behalf of Meads to more than eight charges of using a carriage service to solicit child pornography, the prosecution withdrew most of the remaining charges.

Meads will be sentenced at the District Court in April.
