Gladstone brickie pleads guilty to grooming child for sex
A BRICKIES labourer and local sportsman has pleaded guilty in the District Court at Gladstone to a charge that he attempted to groom a girl aged under 16 for sex.
In his arraignment Gradey Fraser Gill, 21, went before Judge Michael Burnett and pleaded to the charge that between December 4, 2014 and February this year he, being an adult, unlawfully engaged in conduct with intent to facilitate the procurement of the girl to engage in a sexual act.
Judge Burnett convicted Gill of grooming a child aged under 16 and granted him bail.
The case was adjourned for sentence to the District Court in Rockhampton for sentence before Judge Burnett on December 1.
Last week, in an unrelated matter, a jury in the District Court found Gill not guilty to one count of having unlawful carnal knowledge of a child under 16 in October/November 2013.
Gill successfully defended the Crown allegation that he unlawfully had sex with the under age school girl in a Disabled toilet near Tannum Sands Surf Club when he was aged 19.
