BREAKING: A Toowoomba teenager who suffered third-degree burns to more than 40 per cent of her body at a Harristown party almost three years ago is suing a mother for more than $11 million.

Paris Turkington has filed a personal injury claim against the mother of the boy whose party she attended in August 2013.

The claim, filed in the Supreme Court, alleges the mother failed to adequately supervise the party in the back yard of a Harristown rental property that night.

It alleges there had been a number of instances throughout the night of youths, aged 15 and 16, pouring accelerants on a fire in the yard.

Ms Turkington suffered third-degree burns to 42% of her body and, almost three years on, still wears pressure garments daily.

The claim alleges Ms Turkington's mother asked the host mother, when dropping her daughter at the party, if more adult supervision was needed that night.

The host mother is alleged to have said no, the claim states.

Ms Turkington's lawyer, Jillian Barrett of Maurice Blackburn, told the Courier Mail it was likely the legal action would target the host mother's home and contents insurance.
