BEING a new mum can be daunting task, which is why Community and Allied Health Roma's New Mum Cafe program has proven to be such a success.

The concept, which runs every Tuesday at the Community Arts Centre on Hawthorne St from 9am, brings mothers with children younger than 12 months together to discuss common problems and chat.

Child Health Nurse at Community and Allied Health Roma Angie Gorry said the concept had proven to be popular with Roma mums.

"The numbers are fabulous - 8-10 every week and it's getting to the point where when a new person comes, the whole group welcomes them,” she said.

"Often mums are isolated, because they have to take care of the children but this is great for them.”

Roma Hospital midwife Kelsey Brumpton said the New Mum Cafe was one of the highlights of her week.

"It lets mums chat with other and discuss the challenges that come along with motherhood,” she said.

"It's probably my favourite part of the week.”
