Gallery: Dunkeld brings to life magic of Steele Rudd
THE tiny but mighty Dunkeld Golf Club Hall came alive with the words and musings of Steele Rudd on the weekend thanks to the work of nine talented amateur actors.
The cast of Kate's Wedding, a play created by director Joy Foott based on the works of Australian author Rudd, entertained more than 180 guests over two massive nights on Friday and Saturday.
Ms Foott said the entire experience had beaten even her wildest expectations, noting how seriously the cast members took their respective roles.
"To me, it was amazing to see them so committed. They might have started as amateurs, but by the end they really took control of their characters. It was a really easy guiding process,” she said.
Ms Foott said the play held resonance with the audience due to the theme of hardship in the bush, and the lighter side to that struggle.
"The ups and downs of living in the bush really don't change - you might have different issues, but people who live that life can appreciate it.”
"They also deal with it with humour - there's so much good humour.”
