GALLERY: All is calm and all is bright as Roma lights up

Though the weather outside is frightful, the Christmas house decorations in Roma are helping to boost the festive spirit.

More than 50 houses in the town are lighting up the warm evenings, with residents putting hours of effort into the eye-catching displays in time for Christmas Day.

If you head out after nightfall, you are bound to be one of dozens of cars cruising the neighbourhood in search of the bright lights, blow-up Santas and singing penguins, with nearly every street in town boasting at least one well-dressed house.

This year's displays don't disappoint, with some of the houses offering interactive pieces and perfect photo opportunities, a mixture of Australiana Christmas and traditional decorations spotted on many lawns in town.

From the simple trail of fairy lights to flashing Christmas trees and some elaborate rooftop scenes, a simple drive between 7-9pm is a perfect opportunity for families to take in the sights and feel the Christmas spirit.
