Furry face a favourite with the ladies in the bedroom

WOMEN are going crazy for men's facial hair, apparently.

In fact some even go so far as to say a bearded man makes a better lover than the clean cut variety.

Personally, while I wouldn't call myself an all round beard enthusiast, I have taken a liking to the three-day growth or manicured look.

Dating site Victoria Milan questioned 9217 of its male and female members from 22 countries including Australia and the results are in - the perfect lover has a beard or moustache according to 26% of the ladies surveyed.

Mackay lad Adrian McPhee said his hairy face explosion certainly caught the attention of the ladies.

The 27-year-old joked he'd "ran out of razors" so he decided to let it grow.

A decision that has worked in his favour.

Mr McPhee said he'd received "a lot of" extra female attention and some women even attempted to grab the luscious locks.

A survey has suggested that bearded men make better lovers. What do you like and dislike about beards?

He said his beard even worked as a "good icebreaker".

"People always compliment me on it," Mr McPhee said while stroking his beard. While many young men wore their beard like a fashion accessory, Mr McPhee brushed this off and said his served a more practical purpose.

"Winter's coming up... gotta keep (my face) warm... sun protection," he laughed.

Razor's Edge owner Darren Purdy said he'd noticed an increase in the number of younger men sporting what he called "the Ned Kelly" beard.

It was an interesting look especially because the blokes took such care in ensuring their hair was cut "tight short back and sides", he said.

To keep it in shape, guys should be getting their beards trimmed whenever they got a haircut, he said.

Mr McPhee agreed that beard maintenance was important.

"I wash and condition it when I wash my hair," he said.
