Frocks, fillies and football
CROWDS flocked to Bassett Park on Saturday for all the racing and rugby action at Roma Turf Club's inaugural country racing winter carnival, the Rugby Race Day.
Punters from as far away as New South Wales and Victoria attended the five-race program and stuck around for the many other festivities on display.
Once the races wrapped up, the Condamine Cods went head-to-head against the Roma Echidnas in a glorious, action-packed game of rugby union.
Despite a late surge from the Echidnas, the men from the fish tank took victory back home to Condamine in a 33-26 win.
Hamish and Gabi from Hit south Queensland judged the fashions on the field.
Alexandra Hindle (contemporary) and Toni Bourke (classic) took out the top gongs with Gemma Anderson (contemporary) and Sueanne McCahon (classic) taking out the runner-up positions in fashions on the field.
