Freddie Flintoff embarrassed by 'King of the Jungle' win

ANDREW "Freddie Flintoff" is Australia's first "King of the Jungle".

The British cricketer won the inaugural season of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! tonight, earning $100,000 for The McGrath Foundation.

"Thank you so much for everyone who's voted me King of the Jungle. (It's) a bit of an embarrassing title. I'm not even the king of my own house," Flintoff said.

"I'm humbled; I'm thrilled; I'm excited."

Hall beat out favourite Chrissie Swan and former AFL player Barry Hall to clinch the publicly-voted crown.

Swan was tipped to win, while Flintoff was expected to finish third.

"An Englishman winning something Australian, I tried for years and I got used to going home with absolutely nothing," he said.

The reality show featured 14 celebrities living in a basic base camp in the South African bush, deprived of everything from electronics to coffee, sugar and luxury food.

Flintoff entered the show during week three as an intruder with MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin.

He quickly became a viewer favourite thanks to his cheeky sense of humour, which included a "bromance" with the reality show's co-host Chris Brown.

Hall was runner-up while Swan, who had an emotional reunion with her son Leo after six weeks of separation, finished third.
