IT HAS been a horrific week on the roads in south-west Queensland, with four fatalities rocking communities right across the region.
Spanning across three incidents in the space of 24 hours, police are urging motorist to take every precaution before heading out on the road.
The horror week started in Taroom on Monday afternoon when a truck carrying a load of hay rolled off the road, killing the 26-year-old male driver.
The accident happened sometime after noon, when the truck travelling south of Taroom tried to navigate around a corner on Yeovil Rd.
Police said the driver had died by the time emergency services arrived at the scene.
An investigation is currently being conducted by the Roma Road Policing Unit.
Sergeant Sebastian Pollock of the Roma Road Policing Unit said it was a sad reminder of the importance of road safety, especially with the 'fatal five' traffic offences.
"Whilst we can never place enough emphasis on the fatal five when comes to road safety, it's critical that drivers of heavy vehicles realise that they are definitely one of our focus groups, particularly when it comes to wearing seatbelts," Sgt Pollock said.
Two more fatalities occurred Monday in an accident near the Bunya Mountains.
Just a few hours after the accident in Taroom, a 53-year-old and a 42-year-old man were killed after their car rolled at Wengenville.
Initial reports suggest the car, a green Ford Falcon sedan, was heading west on Maidenwell Bunya Mountains Rd, west of Yarraman, when it too failed to navigate a bend in the road.
The result saw the car leave the road and collide with a tree.
Monday's shocking road toll continued through to Tuesday, when another traffic incident took the road toll to four in the space of 24 hours.
Occurring at roughly 12.30pm, 40km east of Charleville, a 70-year-old Finch Hatton man died in a two-vehicle accident.
Initial reports suggest a utility vehicle towing a caravan tried to turn across the Warrego Hwy into a rest stop before colliding with a semi-trailer.
The 70-year-old driver of the utility died at the scene.
Two other people were taken to hospital, one with minor injuries and the driver of the semi-trailer suffering shock.
