PATIENCE has paid off for Sunshine Coast Falcons CEO and new coach Craig Ingebrigtsen, with the club announcing it has signed Penrith backrower Pat Hollis for 2016.
Ingebrigtsen said the club had been chasing Hollis to boost its already strong forward pack.
"He certainly fits in with what we're after," the new coach said.
"He's been in the Penrith system for a few years now ... he's that tough mould of bloke who really works hard."
Ingebrigtsen said the talented backline would be looking for some more muscle up front in 2016.
"We want the forward pack to lay a platform (for the backs) and not worry about what's in front of them," he said.
The move comes as the Falcons players prepare to take on their final two training sessions before the Christmas break.
Ingebrigtsen described this pre-season as the "toughest they've had for a while" and was aimed at getting the boys out of their comfort zone.
"It's been really good and I'm really happy with where we're at," he said.
"Hopefully we can smash the last two training sessions out.
"They haven't had much down-time the poor buggers.
"This Saturday's session is going to be really heavy for them."
The squad returns to training on January 4, before a pre-season, three-way trial match against the Melbourne Storm under-20s and Easts Tigers on February 13 at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
