FOOTAGE: 'If I hadn't been looking, I'd be dead'

A DRIVER is lucky to be alive after a near-miss on the corner of Dragon and Wood Sts.

Jess Ryan was centimeters from colliding with a white ute, after it pulled out in front of her on the busy highway.

"I slammed both my feet on the brakes and had one hand on the horn," the Warwick woman said.

"It was centimeters. I honestly would have hit him if I had been changing a CD or doing something."

The 25-year-old driver said she stopped at a standstill in the middle of the busy highway.

"If there was a truck behind me, I would have been sandwiched," she said.

"That would have been it, I would never have seen my family again."

Even more sickening, according to Ms Ryan, was the driver's reaction.

"When something like this happens, you remember everything in slow motion," she said.

"(The driver) just looked back at me and then sped off."

The footage serves as a timely reminder for drivers to pay attention on Warwick roads.

Last week a crash occured at the same intersection outside Carbal Medical Centre, which saw two cars written off.

Ms Ryan said she recommended drivers invest in a dashcam.

"I used to work up north where there were very big cars that would run me offt the road," she said.

"So I got a dashcam.

"It only cost me $20 and it provides the evidence you need to go to police, and can be used for educational purposes."
