Man sustains serious burns to face, body in restaurant blaze

UPDATE 2.40pm: A man in his 20s has been rushed to hospital, reportedly with significant burns to his face and arms, after a fire broke out in a deep fryer at a Sunshine Coast restaurant. 

Firefighters have contained the blaze at the Taco Boy restaurant on Currie St, Nambour.

Paramedics have taken the man to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, travelling under lights and siren.

While the man's burns are believed to be serious, paramedics reported he was in a stable condition. 

Two fire crews arrived at the Taco Boy restaurant just after 2pm.

The fire was burning in the kitchen's deep fryer. 

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said officers had reported the fire was contained about 2.30pm, but had not yet confirmed the fire had been extinguished.
 

BREAKING 2.10pm: Firefighters are rushing to the scene of a reported fire in a Sunshine Coast restaurant. 

Emergency crews were called just before 2pm, with reports of a kitchen fire at Taco Boy in Nambour. 

One fire crew is on its way to the business in Currie St. 

Paramedics have also been called to the scene.
