Update: 12:15pm

KINGAROY Fire and Emergency Services Acting Inspector Bruce Groer said there was no threat to properties at the given time.

But Mr Groer said it would take some time to fully extinguish the fire.

"It will carry on for quite a while because it's quite wet and inaccessible," he said.

Moonya St resident Eillema Armstrong was more concerned about her washing than any threat from the flames.

"I actually got one of those emergency apps that beeped, and I thought, 'Oh, that's just here,'" she said.

Thankful for the early warning, she was able to bring her drying washing in just before the smell set in.

UPDATE: 11.53am

A QFES Spokeswoman said the fire was burning in inaccessible wetlands and fire crews could not reach the area.

"There's no threat to residence but they should keep medications on hand if they have any respiratory problems," she said.

"Cars should be mindful and watch out for emergency services."

THREE units are fighting a fire in Kingaroy and three more trucks are en route.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said a large vegetation fire was reported at 11.15am.

"It's a large grass area.. at Alford St East," she said.

More to come.
