Fire destroys house

A HOUSE was destroyed by fire early yesterday in the second Bundaberg blaze in a week.

A police spokesman said details were sketchy, but police received the report of the fire in Crapps Ave, Avondale, about 1am yesterday.

But he said police were treating it as a crime scene and were guarding it yesterday.

Scientific officers were due to arrive last night to process the scene.

The police spokesman said several vehicles were also destroyed.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Services spokesman said the house was well alight when fire trucks arrived.

"No one was hurt," the spokesman said.

"Initially we thought there was someone in the house but he later turned up."

A Woongarra house was destroyed by fire last Sunday morning, with the site also a crime scene.

Police ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at either blaze to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
