WATCH: Fire crews battle out of large blaze
UPDATE 7.15PM: FIREFIGHTERS continue to work on a blaze which was earlier burning out of control near Goonellabah.
However, latest word from FireCom is that the front size has reduced to 500 metres and the inferno is now in hand.
One extra truck is still being sent into the area from Casino as a precautionary measure.
UPDATE 6.30pm: THE Goonellabah fire front is now believed to be at least 1km wide.
Additional Rural Fire Service crews are being called in an effort to help NSW Fire and Rescue crews contain the blaze.
UPDATE 5.40pm: FIREFIGHTERS are battling a grass fire half a kilometre wide burning in an open paddock at the back of Invercauld Rd.
Several Rural Fire Service crews have joined the fray to contain the blaze, which is still burning out of control between Skyline Rd and Invercauld Rd.
UPDATE 5.20pm: TWO Fire and Rescue NSW crews are battling an out of control grass fire at rural properties between Invercauld Rd and Skyline Rd at Goonellabah.
The blaze is still listed as a covering a large area and out of control, although no houses are threatened.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said a large paddock was on fire.
Multiple RFS crews are also en route to assist fighting the blaze.
ORIGINAL STORY: FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a reported grass fire in Goonellabah on Skyline Rd.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said crews had reported a large area of grass alight at the rear of houses on Skyline Rd which back on to Invercauld Rd.
The Rural Fire Service has also dispatched multiple crews to the scene.
