Fire couple trash Gold Coast mansion rented by Clive Palmer

A COUPLE who lost their toddler son in a house fire has trashed the luxury Gold Coast home Clive Palmer rented for them in the wake of the tragedy.

It could potentially leave the billionaire mining magnate with a repair bill as high as $100,000.

Jaryd Campbell and Belinda Warwick prompted a nationwide outpouring of sympathy when they lost their two-year-old son Roman and all their possessions in a house fire in Beenleigh, south of Brisbane, in May.

Among the many people touched by the couple's plight was Mr Palmer, who subsequently paid $1000 a week to rent the couple a luxury Gold Coast home to house them and their remaining four children for six months.

The couple's lease ended this week and when the real estate agent arrived to do their final inspection prior to the owner's return from Singapore, they found the condition of the home so poor, the damage bill could potentially run as high as $100,000.
