FIRE IN SUBURBIA: Blaze breaks out metres from homes, school

BREAKING: Firefighters have taken quick action to avert disaster after a fire broke out near Sunshine Coast homes and a primary school.

Emergency crews were called at 9.15am after a small fire broke out at Mountain Creek on Dianella Dr, near the Brightwater State School. 

The first Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crew arrived on the scene before 9.30am. 

Firefighters doused the blaze within 20 minutes, and are monitoring the scene. 

Residents have been urged to close windows and doors against smoke lingering in the area.
