Father makes touching vow to his homeless son

LOOKING up at their son - who appeared in court via video link from custody - these parents have vowed to do anything they can to help turn his life around.

J'Khobi Shaw, 17, has had a rough life, a court heard.

Homeless from age 12, Shaw has been using the drug ice for the past year and now has a baby on the way with his de facto partner.

After his parent's "messy" divorce, Shaw lost contact with his father, but the pair have recently reconnected.

Shaw's dad and step-mother drove up from Victoria to support him in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of public nuisance and single counts of stealing, entering a yard and obstructing police, all from a day of offending.

Shaw is also facing several other charges, but those have been adjourned to a later date.

The court on heard November 20, members of the public told police Shaw had been fighting with another man and yelling at him, "you f---ing owe me money" at a Gympie Terrace, Noosaville address.

Later that day at another address, Shaw stole a mountain bike from under a balcony the owners were sitting on and when confronted cycled away.

When police were talking to the victims, Shaw came back and was seen walking through traffic and giving drivers the finger.

During his arrest he struggled against officers and later admitted being in the earlier fight.

Shaw's lawyer told the court her client's parents wanted to move him to New South Wales with them for a fresh start and urged magistrate Ron Madsen to consider probation.

After much deliberation, Mr Madsen decided Shaw was suitable for probation and granted him bail until his other matters are before the court.
