Endeavour host Disability Action Week
DISABILITY Action Week kicked off in the Maranoa last week with the Endeavour Foundation in Roma hosting a number of activities on Friday.
Disability Action Week is held annually in September and aims to empower people with disability issues and improve access and inclusion throughout the wider community with this year's theme, 'An all abilities Queensland: everybody has a role to play'.
Ali Hall, support and operations manager at Endeavour in Roma said the group was organising the morning's activities to do something special for its disabled members.
"We're just holding a small event here at the netball courts today to give a number of disabled people the opportunity to give netball a go,” she said.
"The aim of activities like today is to give them a go at participating in things that they may not normally be exposed to.
"It's important for disabled people to know that they are able to do things that not a lot of the time they are included in, so it's important for them to go out and give things like netball a go.”
The Foundation also had a barbecue on standby, with the fresh scent of snags a good a reward for a hard days of play.
