Police defuse suspected bomb, find gun cache in Arundel

UPDATE: AUTHORITIES have defused a suspected pipe bomb after reportedly finding the device along with guns and ammunition in an Arundel factory.

The PSPA emergent situation was revoked at 12.50pm after Specialist Units rendered the area safe.

A police spokeswoman said the device was believed to be explosives inside a PVC pipe, according to The Brisbane Times. 

 

EARLIER: POLICE have declared an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in Arundel after a suspicious device was found inside a factory. 

The PSPA was declared around 11am after police located a vehicle at a Brisbane Rd factory with a suspicious device inside.

The declaration includes Brisbane Road between Kendor Street, Telford Place and the Gold Coast Highway.

Traffic is not affected at this time.

Specialist Units are in attendance.
