Entangled parachutes blamed for woman's death, man's injury

Update: 4.43pm: A WOMAN has died and a man left seriously injured after a skydiving incident in Tyagarah on Friday afternoon.
Police said it appeared the parachutes of the man and woman had become entangled.
They were both treated at the scene, near Byron Bay, by paramedics, but the woman died at the scene.
She has not yet been formally identified.
The man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
Tweed/Byron LAC police have begun investigating the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Update: 4.28pm: ONE person has died after a skydiving accident at Tyagarah.
A NSW Ambulance media spokesman has confirmed one of the two skydivers, who was in a critical condition, passed away.
He said ambulance officers were still on scene just before 4.30pm.
Update: 3.50: TWO skydivers are in a critical condition after falling to the ground at Tyagarah.
An Ambulance media spokesman has confirmed ambulance officers are on scene.
It is understood Polair has been requested for assistance.

Emergency services have responded to reports of a skydiver down near Tyagarah airfield.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said at 3.24pm Friday, they were called to reports of one or two skydivers injured.
He said ambulance services were still on their way as of about 3.35pm.
