PHOTOS: House damaged after morning fire

UPDATE 12.50PM: A HOUSE has significant damaged through-out after a fire started in a down stairs room. 

Emergency Services responded to reports of a mattress on fire in the downstairs room at a Heathwood Cres home at the Hummock just after 11am today.

Queensland Fire Service station officer Andrew McCracken said the room where the fire began was "totally gutted" and the rest of the house was damaged from the smoke. 

He said residents were safely evacuated and a elderly man was assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation. 

The cause of the fire was being investigated. 

Mr McCracken said it was a timely reminder for residents to check they had working smoke alarms.

UPDATE 11.50AM: REPORTS an elderly resident will be treated for smoke inhalation.

UPDATE 11.45AM: NEAR by neighbours rushed to help the resident of the Heathwood Cres home. 

 

Smoke was seen billowing from the front of the house. It is believed the fire was under the house. 

 

 


UPDATE 11.22AM: A HOUSE on Heathwood Cres is on fire. 

Two fire crew, one police and an ambulance vehicle are on the scene. 

EARLIER: Emergency crews are on the way to a house fire on the Hummock.

It was reported a mattress under the house was on fire.
