YOU can hear the panic in his voice as the shark begins to circle.
The giant five-metre long creature threatened Ian Watkins as he paddled in King George Sound off the Western Australian's southern coastline.
He made an emergency call to nearby vessels after the shark took an interest in him, he told ABC.
"This wave was coming behind me and I thought, 'What the heck is that?'" he said.
"Then I looked on and there's this massive fin, and I thought,'That's a serious shark'."
"It pushed me from the left hand side and then it nudged me from the middle across the left hand side."
He said he wasn't sure if the shark was preparing to attack, but it was "definitely interested" in him.
The charter boat was about 600m away when it tooks his call, and rushed back to his aid.
