Elders Roma safe from nationwide staff cuts

ELDERS Roma are assured a future after confirmation nationwide staff cuts would not affect the local branch.
Group general manager David Goodfellow said the Roma office was one of the company's strongest centres and would not be included in the office closures announced last week.
"The action we have taken with the announcements have essentially been in senior and middle management roles," Mr Goodfellow said.
"There has been very few changes made to staff in branches."
Of the 218 branches Elders operates across Australia, a total of ten will close due to the cuts.
Mr Goodfellow assured Roma would not be included on the list.
"We have a very good business in Roma and that business needs ongoing investment in years to come," he said.
"Staff in Roma should be quite pleased out of these announcements as they will see further investment in the Roma district."
He said the structural changes announced by Elders will focus on ensuring the company remains profitable into the future.
"Essentially those branches that will close are very small and are branches where we have not been profitable," he said.
"Shutting them insures all parts of the business are profitable and we can continue to invest in areas that are important to us, like Roma."
