Elderly woman confesses to selling drugs to boys

A 70-YEAR-old man sat in the courtroom with his head in his hands as his partner of 23 years was sentenced to a term of imprisonment.

Kim Marie Lamb, in her 50s, pleaded guilty in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court to four counts of supplying drugs and possession of drug-related items this week.

The court was told a raid of the pair's Coast home in January revealed several small bags of cannabis, cannabis resin, equipment used to smoke the drug and cash.

Police were suspicious Lamb was involved in drugs commercially, but were only able to charge her with the supply offences because she confessed.

She told police she had been supplying cannabis in amounts of $20, $50 and $90 for six months prior to the police raid.

Lamb would buy an ounce of cannabis for about $300 and make a profit of anywhere between $100-$200 supplying it.

The court also heard Lamb admitted to police she supplied cannabis in small amounts to "four boys" as a favour.

But Magistrate Matthew McLaughlin said it was clear Lamb wasn't doing it as a favour but rather had a motive, given she was making a profit.

Mr McLaughlin said Lamb had a criminal history of drug supply and refused to give her probation given her mature age.

He said any probation officer assigned to her would be young enough to be her son or daughter.

He told Lamb he wasn't "stupid" and knew it was likely she would continue to smoke the drug.

He encouraged her to move elsewhere where it was legal.

Lamb was sentenced to one month in jail, wholly suspended for 18 months.

She was also made to pay a $500 fine, with a conviction recorded.
