Elderly man beaten with baseball bat

A 64-year-old Goodna man was beaten with a baseball bat in his own home by an intruder early this morning.

According to police, the man was woken by the intruder at about 2.45am and went to investigate.

After a physical altercation with the unknown man. the Goodna resident suffered facial injuries.

The intruder then stole the man's car and fled the home on Eric St at Goodna.

Paramedics treated the 64-year-old who was later transported to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.

Police located the car nearby at about 8am but are still on the hunt for the robber.

Investigations are continuing.
