Easter in the Country

THE 41st Roma's Easter in the Country is set to reflect true country hospitality, fun, festivity and the use of the outdoors for the whole family to enjoy over the four day festival.

The festivities begin Thursday morning with the Roma Saleyard tour at 8.15am. The tour will allow people to see the largest cattle selling facility in the southern hemisphere up close and personal.

Finish the first night of the festival off with the Wild Desert Outback Tucker Under the Stars Dinner with celebrity chef, Matt Golinski.

Enjoy a delicious paddock to plate meal, a free cocktail on arrival and live entertainment.

Friday includes attractions for lovers of art and culture. The Meadowbank Museum, Moonlighting in Moffatt exhibition, showing of the quilts, Maranoa Performance and Song and the Written History of Roma and District will be on display all weekend.

An activity sure to get the whole family involved is the monster egg hunt at the Big Rig Parklands at 5pm, with a visit from Easter Bunny.

For an action packed evening the Cement Australia Extreme Bulls event will have bulls bucking from 5.30pm until 10pm, or check out the Queensland Touring Film Festival at the outdoor movies.

Bring your chair and have dinner at the Lions Fish and Chips van and see some of Roma's children as film stars for the short films.

Saturday is set to keep you on your toes with the street markets beginning at 7am and the annual street parade at 9am.

The Outdoor Country Music Festival is sure to put everyone in the Easter spirit with John and Vinney, Christie Lamb and Liam Kennedy-Clark performing on the stage from 10am.

If you aren't lucky enough to attend Matt Golinski's dinner under the stars, be sure to catch his cooking demonstration using fresh outback produce from 11am.

Entertainment continues well into the afternoon with the XXXX Gold Easter Races at 1pm, the Mud Derby and Drag Racing at 12pm and the Roma speedway from 5pm.

Kick Sunday off with the Senex Colour Xplosion fun run at 8.15am, followed by the billy cart races at 9.30am, the wife carrying races at 11am, the goat races at 12pm and the XXXX Easter Pro Rodeo Sunday afternoon.
