Easter in the Country a hit with tourists

THE Easter long weekend brought more than 10,000 visitors to Roma, according to Easter in the Country co-ordinator Jenny Flynn.

As tourists return home and the town goes back to normal, Mrs Flynn was assessing how the festival went in 2016.

She said the festival was on par with previous years, and overall she was very impressed with the big turnout.

“It was fantastic,” she said.

“We certainly had over 10,000 attendees.”

With many visitors coming from across Queensland and Australia to visit Roma, Mrs Flynn said Sunshine Coast was the biggest source of attendees overall.

She pointed to Outback Tucker Under the Stars, an exclusive dinner at the Roma Saleyards as one of the successful new additions to the festival.

“Everyone was saying what a fantastic idea, and that’s an element we want to grow more,” she said.

Although the 2016 festival has just wrapped up, planning has already begun for next year, which will be the 40th anniversary of the festival.
