Lucky escape: airborne car lodged high in tree
A WOMAN was lucky to survive after a harrowing single vehicle crash in which a car was lodged high up a tree at the weekend.
Stanthorpe police were called to the crash just after midday Saturday off the New England Hwy near Back Creek Rd.
The vehicle had become airborne and lodged in a tree.
The 23-year-old female driver had been travelling from Woodridge headed to New South Wales when she fell asleep at the wheel for a short while.
She made the admissions to police after she was taken to Stanthorpe Hospital with cuts and abrasions.
She was later issued with a notice to appear for driving without due care and attention.
Later that day, about 3pm, police were called to another crash scene as a result of speed and slippery conditions.
Police said the female driver had lost control of her car on Rabbit Fence Rd at Pozieres.
The car had rolled a number of times and the driver was taken to hospital for observations.
She was later issued with a ticket for failing to have proper control of a vehicle.
