Driver charged over death of Miss World Australia finalist

A FRENCH woman will face court over a North Queensland crash that killed a 17-year-old Miss World Australia finalist earlier this month.

The tourist has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, with police alleging the traveller was driving on the wrong side of the road on August 7.

Model Elyse Miller-Kennedy was in the other vehicle, and died in hospital on August 12.

Ms Miller-Kennedy is reported to have been trapped in her Toyota Camry for two hours after the incident.

She was taken to Cairns Hospital with serious leg and arm injuries that required multiple surgeries while her 20-year-old male passenger's injuries were "non-life threatening".

The woman is due to face court in Cairns on Monday.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
