Double birthday bash totals 160 years for McLennans
WITH their combined age totalling 160, Florence and Paul “Tony” McLennan have celebrated a milestone with a double 80th birthday party earlier this month.
The Bendemere pair, who have been married for 57 years with six children, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, celebrated their achievement with a birthday luncheon in the company of family and friends at the Roma’s Explorers Inn last week.
The two birthday cakes were cut using the family Ceremonial Dress Sword originally belonging to Florence’s grandfather Dr Arthur Henzell, who was the Port Health Officer in Mackay.
Son Bruce spoke at length of the lessons of family life, holidays and support shown by his parents to all of the kids.
Ms McLennan said it was a grand occasion, and thanked her family and friends for attending to help celebrate.
“We had a wonderful day; only missing four grandchildren and sons-in-law from work commitments,” she said.
“It was a very happy occasion, and we were very blessed to have so many of our family and friends there.”
