Daniel Morcombe's killer using new name in prison

CONVICTED child killer Brett Peter Cowan has returned to sharing his life with prison inmates in jail in the aftermath of an alleged attack in which he was doused with boiling water.

Cowan was convicted of murdering Sunshine Coast schoolboy Daniel Morcombe in 2014.

News Corp is reporting Cowan is now using his new name in prison.

Cowan changed his name to Shaddo N-unyah Hunter in the years before his conviction after he became a key suspect in the Morcombe murder case.

Cowan told detectives he named himself after his dog Shaddo, and "N-unyah" stood for "none of your business".

Adam Paul Davidson is facing grievous bodily harm charges after the alleged attack on Cowan, which resulted in burns to his head, chest and legs.

Cowan was in hospital for about a week before being returned to prison.
