Police have declared a crime scene at a Burpengary East home after a woman was allegedly shot on Thursday afternoon.

A Queensland Police spokesman said emergency services were called to the incident shortly after 1pm.

Moreton Police Inspector Craig White said that at about 1pm two men have entered a home at Talbot Way Burpengary East.

A woman, aged 20, was shot in the arm and has been taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Insp White said witnesses saw two men flee the scene.

Police are searching bins in a nearby park as a weapon is yet to be found.

Police, who remain on scene, are still searching for the two men.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics and a critical care unit were called to a home.

She said the woman had sustained a "significant arm injury" and had been taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.

Just one patient was treated by paramedics.

Insp White said there were six other people in the home at the time, which included two children.

He said it was unknown if the victim knew the alleged offenders but did not believe it to be a random attack.
