Creative quilts on show at Roma's Hibernian Hall

THE walls of the Hibernian Hall came alive on the weekend for the annual Showing of the Quilts.

A couple of dozen quilters from town and country alike put up their work for viewing pleasure, with the Roma Quilters collecting a small donation at the door.

"The entry covered our rent for the room," Roma Quilters secretary Maibry Marshall said.

"We were happy with the numbers through the door but it was slightly down on last year due to school holidays."

Fellow quilter Jill Purcell said most quilters enjoyed their hobby as quiet relaxation.

"It helps you mull over things," Jill said.

"It helped women in the drought where as men didn't have that."

There were over 100 quilts hanging in the hall for the event.
