Court out: woman had marijuana in her handbag at court

FRIDAY the 13th proved unlucky for one woman who was caught entering the Toowoomba Courthouse with a stash of marijuana in her handbag.

Court security officers regularly remove knives and other dangerous weapons from court attendees' belongings but seldom does someone turn up to appear before the court with a stash of illicit drugs among their possessions.

Whether the 39-year-old woman was contemplating spending some time in custody and was looking for that one last "hit" before an enforced "holiday" is not known, but she was soon being interviewed by police next door in the Hume St police station after the security officer found the plastic bag of bud and leaf in her handbag.

She was charged with possessing a dangerous drug and granted bail to appear back in Toowoomba Magistrates Court - presumably without illicit drugs - on February 6.
