Could Roma become a 'City of Literature?'
COULD Roma become a city of literature?
That's the question writer and artist Matt Blackwood is asking after a two-day storytelling workshop at the Roma Library last weekend with local writing enthusiasts.
Mr Blackwood said Roma had immense potential for people to tell their stories, and emphasised that it was important for people in regional areas to find different starting points for literature.
Part of his recommendations included the start of an 'honour library' at the airport, which would encourage people to start sharing their stories.
"It's a free library curated to allow people to interact with different books, and give a different, accessible way to connect with literature. It's a way to get people to have something to read on the plane, and then share it with other travelling points,” he said.
"Roma has a huge opportunity to use tools like this to get the word out there and branch out to the non-artistic community.
"I want to see people use the opportunity to tell their stories in a unique way.”
