Coronavirus test results returned to Bollon residents

BOLLON remains coronavirus-free after all residents returned negative test results.

Several tests were carried out last week after a traveller from Blackwater visited the town.

It was originally believed 30-year-old Blackwater resident Nathan Turner died of coronavirus last week, however earlier this week it was confirmed that was not the cause of his death.

Balonne Local Disaster Management Group chair and Balonne Shire Council Mayor Samantha O’Toole said several Bollon residents and a traveller were tested, which was an exercise in putting plans into action.

“All tests are clear, which is a good outcome for our region,” she said.

“The incident enabled us to test our rapid response plans, which proved to be quick and effective, and we are confident we can contain incidents like this going forward.”
