Cool weather helps fire fighters in the Maranoa
COOLER weather has helped fire fighters to gain control over some of the blazes in the area, but the respite may only be temporary.
Inspector Shane Brumby from the Rural Fire Service said Friday is likely to be another big day for fire fighters, with temperatures set to hot up again.
"It's scheduled to be 37 degrees with strong south westerlys forecasted," Mr Brumby said.
Fire fighters have contained blaze at Morwhena, near Mitchell, which yesterday was burning uncontrolled over an area of 5000 acres.
Fire fighters have also got control over blazes at Springfield and Lynwood.
But the fire is still burning out of control at Combabula State Forest north of Injune covering an area of 40,000 acres.
Three water bombers are currently at the Roma airport and are expected to be there until the end of the week at least.
Air attack supervisor Warren Buckley said this is the most water bombers they have ever had a based in South West Queensland at one time.
Mr Buckley said it's been the perfect conditions for fires.
"It's been a good wet season and there's a lot of long grass which is now dry," Mr Buckley said.
