Last goodbyes for teen killed in dirt bike crash
TEENAGER Jayke Dick should have been preparing to start his final year of school this week.
But instead his grieving family and friends are preparing to say their last goodbyes to him.
A funeral will be held on Friday for the 16-year-old who was fatally injured when he crashed a dirt bike into a tree at Beachmere on January 13.
His mother Tanya Dick said she felt numb but was grateful for the enormous support shown by the wider community.
"I'm holding my own just trying to get everything organised," Mrs Dick said.
Jayke's funeral will be held at Traditional Funerals in Burpengary from 1.30pm on Friday.
"Anyone who knew him is welcome," Mrs Dick said.
A memorial service has also been planned to be held at Beachmere Rugby League Football Club from 11am on February 11.
Mrs Dick said balloons would be released and motorbike riders would do a lap of honour past the site where Jayke died.
She encouraged anyone who was struggling to cope with Jayke's sudden loss to get in touch with the junior rugby league club.
The club has organised counselling services.
