Community groups collaborate on issues over breakfast
MARANOA PCYC continued its drive to provide quality community and youth development when it hosted the Breakfast of Champions event at the Roma Cultural Centre on Tuesday.
The Breakfast of Champions was an engagement process that allowed Maranoa PCYC to interact with different community groups around town and discuss relevant issues to the town and the club.
PCYC branch manager Sergeant Greg Calletti said the event was an invaluable opportunity for Roma.
"To meet and talk to all these groups under the same roof at the same time was a very worthwhile experience,” he said.
"Those who attended all have a different insight into what is happening around Roma, they are very knowledgeable and it was very worthwhile.”
Sgt Calletti said this year's Breakfast of Champions saw a large cross-section of the community attend.
"We had a mixture from Queensland police to councillors, our Maranoa Mayor Tyson Golder and even school staff and students,” he said.
When asked what concerns were raised, SgtCalletti said the key focus was the PCYC's positive engagement with youth.
"We have made some important developments in addressing youth issues across the Maranoa, however there is always more that can be done,” he said.
"The main issue remains for the PCYC to continue engaging positively with youth, whether it be education programs or giving them a physical outlet to get into.
"We appreciate all the help from our sponsors that helped make the event today happen.”
It is hoped collaborative approaches such as the Breakfast of Champions will continue a long-lasting and positive impact on the community in years to come.
