THREE men accused of torturing and murdering Shaun Barker, whose remains were found in Toolara Forest in April last year, have had their cases adjourned until next year for a committal hearing.

Cooloola Cove men Stephen John Armitage and his son Matthew Leslie Armitage have been charged with murder, torture, deprivation of liberty and interfering with a corpse.

A Gold Coast man, William Francis Dean, has also been charged over Mr Barker's alleged torture and murder.

Mr Barker was allegedly kidnapped, put into an Esky, tortured and tied to a tree while honey was smeared over his genitals to attract ants before being murdered in December 2013. His body was also allegedly burnt and dumped in bushland near Tin Can Bay.

The three men's cases were mentioned briefly at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday when it was adjourned for a committal hearing.

The hearing will take place on January 18 next year when it is believed some witnesses will be cross examined.

The three men were remanded in custody.
