Comedians Fiona O'Loughlin and Sean Woodland coming to the Maranoa
WELL-RENOWNED comedians Fiona O'Loughlin and Sean Woodland are coming to the Maranoa.
The two comedians will headline a joint comedy tour and health expo heading to the south-west in late May to promote the use of comedy in dealing with mental illness, and local health services available.
The expo and tour was only made possible thanks to a $27,000 grant under the Department of Health's Tackling Regional Adversity through Integrated Care (TRAIC) program.
Chief executive officer Derek Tuffield said the expo and comedy tour was a great option to bring to south-west Queensland.
"We are proud to bring this great event to south-west Queensland and deliver some humour to areas that for so long have had to battle adversity,” Mr Tuffield said.
Director of the comedy tour Mark David said the idea of bringing comedy to regional areas was something that excited both comedians.
"Both Fiona O'Loughlin and Sean Woodland were really, really excited to join the tour, especially to see areas they haven't visited before,” he said.
"We all like to laugh at things that are common to us and have that parallel between what they are talking about and what we feel and that's exciting for both comedians.”
The expo will begin at 3pm at the Cultural Centre with the health expo followed by the comedy show, commencing at 6.30pm.
Entry to the comedy show is by gold coin donation and bookings are essential.
