Mum stalked, beaten in vicious random attack

A COAST woman has been attacked, bashed over the head "30 times, maybe more" with a glass bottle.

Coolum woman Tiffany Murphy was walking to her car after finishing work in Fortitude Valley in the early hours of Friday morning, when an unknown man began to follow her.

"I don't know where he came from," she said. "I felt like it wasn't right."

When she arrived at her car, parked on Kennigo Lane, she turned to face her would-be attacker.

"He was really awkward. When I turned around he stopped, and started to walk towards me slowly.

When the 28-year-old mum tried to get into her car, the man pounced.

"I regret having my back to him, because as soon as I unlocked the car and put my hand on the door handle he hit me on the back of the head," she said.

Stunned, Ms Murphy can't recall how she wound up in her car on her back.

"I don't know if I put myself in the car or if he pushed me, but I landed in my car on my back.

"We were on a hill, and the handbrake was digging into my back.

"He came into my car and I was kicking into him and he was hitting me over the head."

She managed to push off her attacker but before she could lock the door he was upon her again, beating her over the head again and again while she held the horn down with her hand, screaming and kicking.

"I looked the guy in the eyes; he scared me so much.

"His eyes looked demonic.

"All I could think about was my son and that's what gave me more strength to fight. I kicked him as hard as I could."

She managed to lock herself inside her car, as he tried to smash-in her windows before smashing the bottle on the ground and walking off into the night.

"It was like I was a punching bag," she said.
