Charleville man faces court on incest charges

A man fronted the Charleville Magistrates Court charged with incest.

The defendant, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity, faced court on Monday, January 11.

It is understood he has not entered a plea in relation to that offence but has other matters in the High Court.

He was also charged with possessing restricted items.

Duty solicitor Chelsea Saldumbide and police prosecutor sergeant Caroline Boodnikoff asked Magistrate Peter Saggers to adjourn the matter until the next court sitting to prepare further evidence.

“In regard to the indictable offence, the brief is almost complete so I will require an adjournment and for the new charge, I will need to give some advice to the defendant,” Ms Saldumbide said.

The man is required to report to police every Monday and Friday.

The matter was adjourned until February 9.
