Cat allegedly 'doused in petrol and set alight'
AN Innisfail man is to appear in court this month having been charged with serious animal cruelty.
Police allege that in the early hours of Saturday morning, a trap was used to catch a domestic cat at a home on Maple St, Goondi Bend.
The cat was then allegedly "doused in petrol and set alight".
Police say the cat, after being found by its owner, was "immediately taken to a local vet", where it was euthanised.
A 62-year-old man was charged with one count of serious animal cruelty and will appear in Innisfail Magistrates Court on September 18.
