Can you guess who this Roma local is?

IT TOOK two hours for local body builder Fiona Flanders to be transformed in to a living and breathing piece of art.

Ms Flanders modelled body art at the opening of artist Susie Klein's exhibition on Saturday.

"My art is just all about self expression and I'm a really big advocate on south-west Queensland,” Ms Klein said.

"My motto is feel the fear and do it anyway.

"Every time I want to do something there's a big long process that happens because I worry about what my peers will say, I worry whether it's the trend and whether I'm actually being true to myself.”

Ms Klein has been preparing for this exhibition for a few years now but the actual art pieces where created in a matter of hours.

"I was like to myself 'just pick up the paint brush and start',” she said.

"I painted ten poles and four big canvases in six hours so I just churned it out.

"It took me all that time, so two or three years, to practice on smaller scales and know what my paint can do so there's all of that.”

Some of the artwork on show was not exactly how Ms Klein first intended it to turn out.

"There's artwork here that's cracked because I painted it around Easter time when we had that really hot day and then it was really cold the next morning so it cracked,” she said.

"The I thought I'll just fill it in with gold.

"So problem solving is something that I really like to do.”

Experimenting with different techniques, Ms Klein said has helped develop her as an artist.

"I've learnt this technique called create and destroy so you just create something and then you purposefully destroy it and then create it again.”

"So that's how you get the layers.”

"It's helped me realise I don't have to just start again but I can work on it.”
